Uncaged innovations

UNCAGED Innovations is a biotechnology company developing next-generation leather alternatives through sustainable, bio-based material science. The team hosted the DESIGN THE FUTURE initiative that included technical apparel research, prototyping, and design development that could demonstrate how their materials perform in real-world garment applications.

My work involved creating apparel concepts, prototypes, and material studies that evaluated durability, flexibility, drape, and construction potential. I analyzed how the material responds to seaming, topstitching, edge finishing, layering, and structural reinforcement, providing recommendations for pattern shapes and garment categories best suited for the material’s properties.

The project included early-stage prototyping, construction experiments, technical sketches, and design strategy for product categories ranging from outerwear to accessories. The deliverables helped the team understand feasibility, identify ideal use cases, and refine the storytelling needed to communicate their material’s innovation to investors, partners, and designers.

This technical exploration provided UNCAGED Innovations with a clear, design-forward framework for future collaborations with fashion brands and product developers.
